We’re Partnering with Flow Traders and PPOZO to organize ‘Rising Technologist’ Roadshow
During EU Code Week 2018 (October 6 – 21), Stichting NewTechKids will organize the ‘Rising Technologists Road Show’ in Amsterdam Southeast, supported by Flow Traders and Primair Onderwijs Zuidoost PPOZO. Although the community is considered disadvantaged, we describe the children there as ‘Rising Technologists’ because they can become future technologists if they receive computer science education. Read our report on these kids here.
Under the theme ‘Automation Nation’, our teachers will teach a series of lessons focused on introducing automation and programming to students ages 5-12 in local primary schools.
We will teach lessons in 10 primary schools which will reach more than 500 students. During our lessons, students will be challenged to ‘automate’ an everyday object by designing, building and programming a technology prototype in small teams using toy robots or robotics kits.
Stichting NewTechKids has been teaching computer science programs at schools and the Amsterdam Public Library’s local branch in Amsterdam Southeast since Fall 2016.
