Computer Science Live: Quby

Stichting NewTechKids collaborated with software developers from Quby to co-develop a lesson on systems thinking and the concept of feedback. Quby specializes in smart energy management systems which enable consumers to save money and manage their energy consumption more efficiently.

Students learned how feedback works by taking a look inside Toon, the smart thermostat  Quby developed for Eneco, a Dutch energy company. Using NewTechKids’ signature ‘no tech’ approach to teaching computer science, kids then used thermometers, ice and hair dryers to show how much data and information computers process to run smart energy systems.

As one student remarked, “Wow! Toon processes a lot of data to maintain constant temperatures.”
